Ever wondered why self-storage facilities are so popular?
We all know it’s all about space!
And who couldn’t do with a little (or a lot) more space?
But what are the circumstances that create this need?
We’ve put together a few scenarios that may help explain why the need for additional
space arises in people’s everyday lives.
Selling your house: Often when selling, we find ourselves preparing the house for viewing and needing to store items that just “don’t fit”. Or maybe we need to vacate the premises whilst we go through the settlement process? Utilising temporary storage during this period is a no-brainer and takes the pressure off during this stressful period.
Downsizing: is something we all go through at some point in our lives. The problem is, what to do with those belongings we just can’t bare to part with? Or possibly, we just don’t have enough time to sort through everything. Moving items into temporary storage will certainly buy the time you need!
Relocating: Moving from one location to another can be a pain, especially if the timing is off! Storage allows a “transitional” space where we can store belongings and transfer them when we’re ready. Too EZ!
Moving in together: It’s common for a couple to make the big decision to move in together, and it’s also not unheard of for an elderly parent to move in with their son or daughter. Either way, these decisions usually come with a lot of excess gear. Long term or short, storage is ideal for managing this transition.
Home renovations: What a nightmare! If you’re planning on doing some DIY or any type of reno project, do yourself a favour and clear the space before you start work. Our storage facilities can easily fit the contents of an average sized room (even more!).
Storing loved one’s belongings: The loss of a loved one is extremely difficult. Added to this stressful time is often the need to vacate a property, deal with accumulated possessions (which is usually a lot!), and all within short time constraints. Using storage as a temporary or long-term solution can greatly reduce this stress, giving everyone a little more time and space throughout the grieving process.
Cars, motorbikes, boats and anything in between: are found in storage facilities around the Country. The reason? People often don’t have enough driveway space, garage space or a decent enough holding area that protects the asset from theft or the elements. Whatever the reason, our storage containers tick all the safety, security and affordability boxes our clients need!
Equipment: So, you’re in between projects, have little space left in the yard, and you’re wondering, “where do I keep this expensive piece of machinery or equipment when it's not in use”? With the added security, safety from the elements, and huge amounts of room, short or long term storage rental is a great fit!
Stock: Business’s often have to contend with excess stock taking up valuable real-estate in either an office, or worse, a house! Sometimes it’s seasonal stock (like Christmas materials) that causes a business’s space problem. Either way, storage provides a secure, protected, easily accessible solution for a business’s stock control problem.
Document Archiving: As much as the digital age is upon us, anyone who has run a Business will tell you that there is no avoiding the huge amounts of paperwork a business generates. And the worst part, you still need to keep these documents for a specified period of time. The simple solution to decluttering your office and/or home from these documents is to put them into secure and safe storage. Problem solved!
Built from 14-gauge Corten steel, with 33m3 of space, our 20ft containers are ideal for storing anything from household items, appliances, excess business stock, vehicles, and even equipment and machinery.
Dimensions
Need to know if our 20ft container is a right fit for your needs?
Here’s some specific dimensions to help answer the question:
Internal length: 5.9m / 19.4ft
Internal width: 2.35m / 7.8ft
Internal height: 2.39m / 7.9ft
Tare weight: 2,300kg / 5,071.5lbs
Payload capacity: 25,000kg / 55,126.9lbs
Usable capacity: 33.2m3 / 1,172 cu ft
Capacity
To get the most realistic capacity metric you will need to measure in terms of tare weight, payload and cubic capacity. This will give you the best idea of how much you can fit into the container and if it's the right fit for your needs.
Generally speaking, you can fit the entire household contents of a one to
two-bedroom apartment into one of our 20 ft containers.
Here’s a Fun Fact from the web…. You can also fit into a 20ft container:
400 flat-screen TVs
200 full-sized mattresses
50-60 refrigerators
48,000 bananas
As with all our containers, our 40ft high-cubes are built from 14-gauge Corten steel
and strong enough to hold over 29 tons (or more than 28,000kg).
They have approximately 76m3 of space and are ideal for holding anything from
general household items to larger machinery and equipment (including cars).
Dimensions
Need to know if our 40ft (HC) container is a right fit for your needs?
Here’s some specific dimensions to help answer the question:
Internal length: 12.03m / 39.5ft
Internal width: 2.35m / 7.8ft
Internal height (high-cube): 2.67m / 8.9ft (1ft higher than standard)
Tare weight: 3,940kg / 8,687lbs
Payload capacity: 28,600kg / 63,052lbs
Usable capacity: 76.3m3 / 2,694.5cu ft
Capacity
When thinking about capacity of the 40ft high-cube, it’s important to focus on the internal dimensions as this is what’s going to matter when calculating the amount of storage it can hold. Another important factor in the high-cubes capacity value is its additional height advantage over the standard. This will obviously only become important if height plays a factor in your storage needs.
Generally speaking, you can fit the entire household contents of a three to four
bedroom family home into one of our 40 ft high-cube containers..
Or if you want an even better understanding, you can generally fit:
25 stacked pallets (euro pallets 1.2m x - 0.8m)
3 -4 standard sized cars
610 standard package boxes
152 bicycles, or
400 full sized mattresses
In a perfect world, all caravan and boat owners would be on the road, or cruising the open water, every day of the week. Unfortunately for most of us, that is not a reality. Having the time, availability and perfect weather for camping or boating just doesn’t seem to happen as often as we’d like.
This also means that storing our beloved larger vehicles is not always easy. Caravans, boats, trailers, cars and all things in between, take up large amounts of garage space, yard space or driveway space. This can cause a lot of undue stress within a household!
That’s why EZ Self Storage provides an affordable and secure ‘Open Air’ storage solution for all larger vehicles. Although this area is uncovered, it provides the perfect alternative for storing your beloved vehicle, comfortable in the knowledge that it’s securely monitored by CCTV cameras, behind very secure fencing.

Here's a short list of some the questions we get asked most frequently. If for any reason you cannot find the answer you are looking, then please feel free to contact us, and we will help you out.
Shipping containers are designed to make long voyagers across the open seas of the world. This means they need to be made tough. In fact, our containers are made from 14-gauge Corten Steel, meaning these containers are like an impenetrable fortress to thieves, mice, rats and other vermin, as well as the seasonal elements.
What better way to keep your valuables protected!
We provide two different sizes of containers, as well as open air storage options. We provide;
20-foot standard containers that have 33 cubic metres of space and internally measures – (L) 5.9m (W) 2.35m (H) 2.39m
40-foot High Cube containers that have 76 cubic meters of space and internally measures – (L) 12.03m (W) 2.35m (H) 2.67m
We also provide 'open air' storage space to house caravans, boats, cars, trailers, buses, trucks, industrial equipment, farming machinery and any other larger vehicle.

Assuming that you have followed our guidelines, then the short answer is YES!
Unlike traditional storage sheds, our containers are built to
withstand the harshest of conditions, they are vermin resistant,
insect resistant, and resistant to weather elements, such as water and dust.
Mice, rats, insects, and the weather cannot penetrate steel,
and the containers double gasket doors form an extremely tight
seals to ensure no nasties get in!
In saying this, nothing is absolutely fool-proof, and shipping
containers are still somewhat susceptible to the forming of
condensation when the right circumstances exist. To ensure that your
items are completely protected, you should check out our FAQs section
on "how do I properly protect my items".
Due to their formidable steel construction and design, our containers are also extremely difficult to break into. Thieves know that without the aid of heavy and cumbersome power tools, their chances of getting in would be very minimal (if not completely impossible). Not to mention that our premises is surrounded by security fencing and covered with monitored CCTV cameras.
Please note: EZ Self Storage provides a clean and vermin/insect free container, designed to keep pests out. This does not exclude the opportunity for these pests to be in your possessions when you place them inside the container. It is therefore strongly recommended that you thoroughly inspect your items prior to stowing them away. This will ensure those creepy crawlies aren't trapped inside and making cosy nests in your belongings.
As mentioned above, when it comes to the protection of your valuables,
our shipping containers are far superior to that of traditional storage
sheds.
But like anything in life, shipping containers are not without their vulnerabilities!
Because shipping containers are constructed using high grade steel,
they can also be susceptible to temperature fluctuations and changes
in humidity when the correct circumstances exist. This may contribute
to the build-up of condensation within the unit.
Although we have taken additional precautions to prevent this situation
from occurring, such as the installation of pre-installed ventilation,
the risk is still unavoidable!
To help protect your items and to minimise the threat posed by
condensation build up, we strongly recommended you take the following
actions when storing your items:
1. Attended to your container regularly
(at least once a month) to open the doors and allow air to circulate.
This will greatly reduce the risk of condensation build up.
2. Add additional protection to your more susceptible items.
This can be achieved by wrapping these items in moisture-resistant
packaging.
3. Reach out for help.
Just remember that we are more than happy to assist in any way!
If you feel there may be an issue arising from condensation build-up,
just let us know as soon as you can, and we can assist you to rectify
the issue.
To put it simply, if you can fit it, you can store it!
EZ Self Storage doesn’t monitor or check what goes into your container, that is completely up to you. In saying this, it is obviously illegal to store any items and/or substances that are considered to be restricted, or illegal by law. Any person found storing such items or substances may be prosecuted for doing so, and EZ Self Storage takes no responsibility for such decisions.
